Our Successes

In 2018 Mr. MS was one of the scholars who were identified at Munali Boys Secondary School through the school authorities. He shared how his unpaid school fees in arrears since Grade 10 caused him to be unsettled during lessons. He was always afraid of being chased out of class. Kwela Trust paid all his school fees and helped him stay in school throughout Grade 12. Furthermore, academic support in form of text book and exam fees was provided. Mr. MS passed his Grade 12 exams and went to University in the School of Natural Sciences.

Our Deeds

Kwela Christmas Lunch

The Kwela Christmas Lunch is an Annual Christmas Feeding Program targeted at impoverished communities in Lusaka. The Christmas Feeding Program provides Lunch for children between the ages of 6-12 in these communities. The Lunch targets children who come from homes so poor that they would not afford a meal on Christmas Day. We have consistently hosted this Lunch annually since 2014. In 2017, the Christmas Feeding Program received overwhelming material and financial support such that we had a surplus of over K8, 000. Kwela Trust then implemented a second project in 2018 called the Kwela Scholar Project.

Kwela Scholar Project

Kwela Scholar Project is aimed at nourishing the potential of the great minds that our country is endowed with. The project seeks to do so by identifying academically gifted pupils who are vulnerable and are at risk of dropping out from school. We target secondary school pupils from across Zambia. This project began in 2018 and we have supported a total of 48 pupils.
